Politico-Military Group informal meeting in Riga to discuss the EU Common Security and Defence Policy

On 4-5 June the informal meeting of the Politico-Military Group (PMG) will take place in Riga to discuss topical issues related to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) in order to prepare for the forthcoming European Council discussions on defence.

Jānis Sārts, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia will deliver the opening speech, addressing the participants of the PMG informal meeting. Politico-Military Group will discuss the EU and NATO cooperation issues, particularly focusing on the strategic communications.

They will also visit Camp Ādaži and discuss regional security issues. The representatives of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence will inform the participants of the informal meeting on the NATO strategic communication.

Politico - Military Group informal meetings at which the participants discuss topical issues relating to the Common Security and Defence Policy CSDP take place under each EU Presidency. The PMG is one of the most important working groups in the field of defence, dealing with most CSDP initiatives at an expert level. This meeting will also provide an important contribution to further work in preparations for the European Council discussions on defence that will take place on 26 June in Brussels.
