Edgars Rinkēvičs chairs the EU-Armenia Cooperation Council in Brussels

On 20 January in Brussels, the Latvian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, chaired the 15th meeting of the Cooperation Council between the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Armenia. The minister Rinkēvičs acted as Chair of the Cooperation Council on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

The EU and Armenia positively evaluated the ongoing cooperation and confirmed their joint commitment to enhance it in future. The meeting addressed an array of issues related to the EU-Armenia relations, with special attention given to the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga. The participants reviewed progress achieved by Armenia in political and social reforms, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, and also considered the situation in the region.
