Such meetings, in which discussions on foreign and security policy issues take place, are traditionally organised by the country presiding over the Council of the European Union and are chaired by the European External Action Service. During the meeting in Riga, the Political Directors will exchange views on the Eastern Partnership, China and regional security, human rights in the context of the EU foreign policy and the foreign policy priorities for the first semester of 2015.
