Kozlovskis: fight against terrorism will be high on the agenda of the Latvian Presidency

08 January 2015

On Wednesday, 07 January the Minister for the Interior of Latvia Rihards Kozlovskis met with the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles De Kerchove. During the meeting both parties discussed the attack on the French magazine "Charlie Hebdo" and expressed condemnation for such violent and brutal action.

It was agreed that the fight against terrorism will be high on the agenda of the Latvian Presidency. "Terrorism is a major threat to internal security of the EU. A ministerial discussion on this issue will take place at the informal Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting in Riga, January 29. The horrible attack in Paris only confirms the need to further strengthen the cooperation among all relevant actors of Member States in fighting against terrorism in all its forms” said Kozlovskis.
