Riga hosts delegates of the 15th European Diplomatic Programme

On 27-28 May under the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council, the 15th European Diplomatic Programme (EDP) organised annually by the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the rotating EU Presidency will be held in Riga in parallel with an informal meeting of the Training Directors of EU Foreign ministries.

This year programme is aimed at the junior diplomats from EU Member States as well as officials from the EEAS, the European Commission and the General Secretariat of the Council. They will gain greater insight into the issues related to the central theme of this year’s programme "Emerging challenges and global issues in current diplomacy" from the Latvian perspective: Eastern Partnership, global security challenges, development and migration.

The informal meeting will be attended by officials responsible for training from EU Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Diplomatic Academies as well as representatives of the EEAS and the General Secretariat of the Council. They will discuss current diplomatic training issues and new initiatives. The participants in the 15th Diplomatic Programme will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the Advanced Programme in Law and Economics aimed at the European Neighbourhood Policy countries (ENP), Central Asia, and Kosovo which is being offered by Riga Graduate School of Law in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
