Implementation of EU trade and investment agreements discussed at the informal meeting of the Trade Policy Committee (Full Members) in Riga

On 8–9 April, the EU’s Trade Policy Committee (Full Members) gathered for an informal meeting in Riga.

The representatives of Member States and the European Commission followed up on the debate launched at the informal meeting of the EU Trade Ministers on 25 March on the update of the strategy for the European Union's trade policy and discussed implementation of EU trade and investment agreements with a special focus on the areas where cooperation between Member States and EU institutions would enable businesses to fully take advantage of opportunities offered by the agreements. The Committee also exchanged views on issues of current importance in regard to the EU’s trade and investment relations with China.

The informal meeting of the Trade Policy Committee (Full Members) takes place once every 6 months in the capital city of the country that holds the rotating presidency of the EU Council. Delegates from the EU Member States, the European Commission, the European External Action Service and the General Secretariat of the EU Council are invited to the meeting to discuss the foreign trade policy topics of current relevance in informal settings.
