Green Bridge Forum on “Building the bridge to clean technologies between the EU and Central Asian countries”
Expert and political meetingsThe main objective of the Green Bridge Forum is to strengthen environmental governance in the Central Asian countries and enhance cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
This forum highlights environmental and water resources management, energy efficiency and renewable energy issues as key cooperation areas for the EU and Central Asian countries in order to intensify the policy dialogue, enhance cooperation and develop business opportunities.
The forum is divided into two parts. On 15-17 April, the participants will discuss political and international cooperation, and then on 18 April they will visit Latvian clean technology enterprises and their environmental technology facilities. During this visit they will have the opportunity to establish business contacts.
The Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, along with representatives from the EU Member States, the European Commission, the Central Asian governments, civil society, intergovernmental organisations and financial institutions, as well as entrepreneurs, are all invited to take part in the forum.
In recent years, a strong clean technology industry facilitating economic growth and jobs has emerged in the EU. This development is being addressed as a priority at both EU and national level. In Central Asia too, there is a growing awareness among governments, businesses and civil society of the vast potential for clean technologies to promote green growth.
Organisers of the forum: the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development), the European Commission and Green Bridge Forum Ltd.
