Preparation of the European Council meeting on 19-20 March 2015

The Council will discuss the draft conclusions for the upcoming European Council. EU leaders are expected to focus on:

• building an Energy Union and more particularly on the topics of energy security, the benefits of the internal energy market and pursuing climate diplomacy
• the conclusion of the first phase of the European Semester for 2015
• external relations: the Eastern Partnership summit in May 2015 in Riga, relations with Russia, the situation in Ukraine and in Libya

The Council will take note of a synthesis report on Council contributions, and of an updated roadmap.
