Agenda highlights

The Council will hold a debate on the future of European audiovisual policy, following the recent Commission communication on a digital single market strategy for Europe. It will focus on two main issues:

  • the audiovisual aspects of the digital single market strategy;
  • the functioning of the audiovisual media services directive in the context of the current geopolitical situation.

Ministers will also exchange views on what European cooperation in education and training has achieved so far and how it should develop. This discussion is part of the mid-term stocktaking of the ET 2020 strategic framework

The Council will also be briefed on the follow-up of the informal meeting of EU Education Ministers in March 2015 in Paris, on promoting citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination through education.

The Council will consider ways to empower young people for political participation in the democratic life of Europe. For this discussion, it will also take into account the input from the youth representatives in the framework of the "structured dialogue".
