The meeting will bring together senior EU and USA justice and home affairs officials. The meeting takes place once every six months in order to prepare for the corresponding EU-USA ministerial meeting which also takes place every six months.

During the meeting both sides will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange views and experience on issues of mutual interest with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the fields of justice and home affairs. The agenda of the meeting in Riga contains the following issues: migration, personal data protection, judicial cooperation, combatting foreign fighters and the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
