The conference will raise awareness of, and promote a discussion about, the quality of the development of the cultural and historical environment, focusing on the role of contemporary architecture and design in supplementing and emphasising existing values. It aims to promote better dialogue and mutual understanding among the main partners in the field of cultural heritage. This includes the owners of cultural monuments, architects, builders, designers, investors, planning specialists, local governments, local residents and civil society organisations. At the same time, the aim of the conference is to seek a conceptual agreement among experts from these sectors in Europe about the main principles in the field of cultural heritage, contemporary architecture and high-quality design. Interaction among these can facilitate the planning of the Europe 2020 strategy in terms of smart, sustainable and inclusive development that leads to the main goal – the quality of human life.

The main themes:

  1. Contemporary architecture and design in the historical urban environment – the scope and nature of construction in interaction with the environment;
  2. Contemporary architecture and design in the cultural and historical rural landscape;
  3. The enduring authenticity of the link between cultural heritage and contemporary architecture;
  4. Modern environmental design in the cultural and historical environment – benefits and threats.

The conference takes place during the "Radi!" 2015 Annual Creativity Week.
