During the fisheries session, the Council will discuss a proposed regulation to establish a multiannual management plan for Baltic Sea fish stocks. The Council is expected to reach agreement on the proposal.
The new plan aims to ensure that stocks are exploited in a sustainable way and also includes herring and sprat stocks, which were previously not covered by a management plan. The new regulation is the first of new generation of multiannual management plans.
On agricultural issues, ministers are expected to adopt conclusions on the EU's position for the forthcoming UN Forum on Forests, taking place in New York on 4-15 May 2015. The Council's conclusions aim to promote a sustainable and responsible approach to forest management.
