Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia in cooperation with Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR" will host the 56th EFSA Advisory Forum Meeting in Riga, June 11 - 12, 2015.

During the meeting discussions are planned on issues related to the re-election of EFSA Management Board members, and on risk assessment issues, launched in the Presidency of Italy. There are discussions planned on scientific cooperation between EFSA and European Union (EU) member states, on transfer of scientific knowledge, and about Latvia as coordinator of the scientific activities in Baltic region.

One of the most important topics will be development of EFSA regional politics regarding to relationship with EU neighbor countries and founding of a stronger cooperation with countries in the EU East and South, and Latvia's possible leadership in the implementation of the cooperation program, thanks to its' geographical and historical aspects.

In the Advisory Forum Meeting representatives from 28 EU countries, Island and Norway will participate, while representatives from Switzerland and European Commission participate as observers.
