Sinfonietta Riga Chamber Orchestra
Conductor Normunds Šnē

Works by Felix Mendelssohn, Pēteris Vasks, Magnus Lindberg, Joseph Haydn

The programme combines classical scores with works by outstanding Latvian and Nordic composers.

Pēteris Vasks (1946) gradually came to be known outside Latvia in the 1990s when Gidon Kremer started championing his works, and he now is one of the most influential and highly-praised contemporary European composers. Violinist Mark Bushkov, who was born in France, will perform the solo part in Vasks’ concerto Distant Light, which is dedicated to Gidon Kremer.

Peteris-Vasks

Sinfonietta Riga is made up of young musicians who are open to creative challenges. They are studying the traditions of Baroque musical performances and the nuances behind the interpretation of Classical music, but are also brilliant performers of contemporary music and do not shy away from non-academic experiments and crossover projects.Since the orchestra was founded in 2006, Normunds Šnē has been its artistic director and chief conductor.

Tickets are available on the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia webpage.
