European Structural and Investment Funds: creating new dual-use opportunities (European Defence Agency’s Workshop in cooperation with the Latvian Ministry of Defence)

The European Defence Agency and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia in the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU will host the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) workshop.

The focus of the workshop: to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and the Europe’s regions to access the EU funding for dual use (civil-military) projects. According to the European Commission, goods and technologies are considered to be dual-use when they can be used for both civil and military purposes.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn from the representatives of the European Commission and the European Defence Agency about the different EU funds available and support activities to facilitate their access. Speakers from the national finance authorities of each of the Baltic States are also invited to inform participants about the national priorities and procedures to access the EU funding. The Latvian Security National Contact Point representative will provide information on research innovation and smart specialisation strategy.
