This meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council will only deal with agricultural issues.

Ministers will try to reach an agreement on a general approach on the organic farming proposal. The proposal reviews existing legislation on organic production and labelling of organic products. The aim is to remove obstacles to organic production, guarantee fair competition and improve consumer confidence in organic products.

The Council will also try to adopt conclusions on the simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The Council presidency has recently consulted member states on CAP simplification, based on their experiences of implementing the reformed CAP.
