EU28 Cloud Security Conference: Reaching the Cloud Era in the European Union
Conferences and seminars Last updated on 15 June 2015, 20.46
As cyber issues are taking an increasingly greater role in today’s security agenda, the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2015 has set Digital Europe as one of three policy priorities. Cyber security forms an inherent part of this priority.
Among many digital themes cloud computing is one of today’s focal points as it offers great opportunities for businesses and governments alike, while at the same raising questions with regard to legal and compliance matters as well as technical security issues. The number of governmental entities, businesses and individuals who use cloud services increases every day, but many of them are unaware of the actual security implications. Cloud computing is surely key to Europe’s digital future, and thus deserves a closer examination.
In this context the Latvian Ministry of Defence and the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) are organizing jointly the Conference on Cloud Security, that is scheduled a day before the Digital Assembly in Riga in order to introduce the common findings to a broader audience.
The conference will be opened by Jānis Sārts, State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Defence and Prof. Dr Udo Helmbrecht, the Executive Director of ENISA, followed by keynotes of high-level representatives of the European Commission, industry and academia.
The conference will be organized in two parallel tracks: ‘Legal & Compliance’ and ‘Technologies and Solutions’.
- In the ‘Legal & Compliance’ track we will address topics like cloud certification, cloud services procurement, security standards, data protection and trans-border data access, while
- the ‘Technologies & Solutions’ track will focus on encryption in clouds, big data, evolution of cloud computing, cloud forensics, research, development and innovation.
The conference will gather an audience of 150 governmental and corporate decision-makers, representatives from European institutions and agencies, R&D managers, cyber security practitioners and researchers.
