The Working Party on Customs Union deals with legislative proposals in the field of customs and customs policy and coordinates the EU’s position regarding issues on customs operations discussed with international organisations, e.g. the World Customs Organisation, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs and others.

During the meeting in Riga the participants will look at topical legislative initiatives regarding customs policy and discuss issues on the management of the EU's external borders.

The participants at the meeting will be customs attachés, representatives of the Member States in the working party, and representatives from the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) and the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union.
