On 3-5 June the international three-day Development Forum will take place in Līgatne, Latvia. It will be one of the main events in the field of development organised during the Latvian Presidency. The forum of community activists and leaders, policy-makers and decision-makers will focus on glocalisation (interaction between the local and the global), and the increasing of public understanding about global issues and their links to our everyday life, and how our daily choices impact the global challenges.

The Development Forum aims to raise public awareness about global development issues and promote the potential of cooperation initiatives among communities as a tool for global development.

Participants will have interactive discussions, they will listen to inspirational stories and share their practical experience and knowledge with local activists from different countries and sectors, and internationally recognised opinion leaders, deepening the understanding about local and global processes and seeking particular opportunities for further cooperation in order to create a common sustainable future.

During the forum, the participants will develop a resolution that would initiate discussions about the issues important to the communities and forward them to policy-makers, diplomats and officials in Latvia and Europe, and international partners.

The Development Forum is organised by the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation (LAPAS).
