The aim of the Triennial is to contribute to the development of professional art and creative artistic processes. The exhibition will present the most topical and innovative trends in the field of textile and fibre art in Europe and worldwide and will try to answer the question: “How do different national cultures express their identity within the European and global context in contemporary society?”

It was decided by the international panel of jurors to accept 85 artists from 29 countries (Europe, Japan, USA, Latin America, etc.) for the show. Two guest artists were also invited to exhibit: Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere from Latvia and the world famous Michael Brennand-Wood from the United Kingdom.

Alongside the main Triennial exhibition, several satellite events are planned. A guest exhibition from Latin America will be held at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, and the works of young Latvian textile artists will be on display at the Riga Arts and Crafts School and the Riga Design and Art School. There will also be solo exhibitions by textile artists in several galleries in Riga.

An international conference dedicated to the development of this field and its prospects will be held at the Riga Bourse Art Museum on 24 April. During the exhibitions, creative workshops and meetings with artists will also take place.
