Prior to the opening of the “Visvaldis Ziediņš. Travels in the Imagination” exhibition at the American University Museum Katzen Arts Center, a symposium dedicated to this Latvian artist will take place at the Embassy of Latvia to the USA.

The symposium will include two reports – “Soviet Nonconformist Art and its Social and Political Context” by Alla Rosenfeld and “An Inner Circle of Outsiders: Visvaldis Ziediņš and Creative Context” by Mark Allen Svede.

The reports will be followed by a panel discussion with both lecturers and the curators of the exhibition, Eleanor Heartney and Ieva Kalniņa.
