Honouring the artist on the occasion of his 75th birthday, the Andris Freibergs. Scenography exhibition was opened at the Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum of the Latvian Academy of Culture in 2013. It will now travel to Moscow.

Andris Freibergs, the talented Principal Set Designer at the Latvian National Opera, celebrated his 75th birthday on 24 October 2013. Since his debut in 1965, he has worked on set design for over 200 plays at leading theatres in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Venezuela, Armenia, Turkmenistan and Russia. As a professor in the Art Academy of Latvia since 1971, Andris Freibergs has trained several new generations of stage designers.

He has received several awards including the Latvian Order of the Three Stars (2003), Best Set Designer of Estonia (2003), seven Latvian theatre awards for Best Set Design and one for Best Costume Design, the highest Italian theatre award Il Premio Ubu (2010) and others.
