During the informal meeting of the Working Party on Development Cooperation (CODEV), discussions will take place on the Latvian Presidency's priority issues in the field of development cooperation, including the new post-2015 development agenda and the preparations for the UN Summit in September 2015.

The following Latvian priorities for development will be highlighted at the meeting:

• gender equality and the promotion and protection of women’s rights, taking into consideration the results of the conference on women’s economic empowerment and sustainable development in March 2015 in Riga;
• good governance and the rule of law, taking into account Latvia's experiences during transition;
• development cooperation in Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries – a Latvian priority in the field of external relations.

The Working Party will also meet with Latvian NGOs that play an active role in the protection of women’s right and good governance, and with border guard experts engaged in projects co-funded by the EU in the Eastern Partnership countries and Central Asia.
