What are the best strategies and tools to improve mobility in our towns and surrounding rural areas?

What are the best ideas developed by EU regions and cities to ensure that public transport meets the real needs of local communities?

What is the role of better mobility in boosting social and economic innovation and growth across Europe?

These challenges will be addressed by the Conference on Integrated solutions for mobility and urban development that will be held in Riga on 13 May by the European Committee of the Regions – the EU assembly of local and regional authorities – in partnership with Riga City Council.

The event is organised within the framework of the external meeting of the Committee's Commission for Territorial and Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER), which takes place in the Latvian capital on 12 and 13 May.

The Mayor of Riga, Mr Nils Ušakovs, together with COTER chair Mr Raffaele Cattaneo – who is President of the Council of the Lombardy Region in Italy – will introduce a debate involving representatives of the Latvian Ministries for Transport and for Environmental Protection and Regional Development, the European Commission, the POLIS network of European cities and regions cooperating on sustainable mobility, and the European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking.
