EYD motto ENYear 2015 is the first year in the history of the European thematic years to be dedicated to the EU foreign policy, more specifically - development cooperation. The official opening of the European Year for Development (EYD2015) will be a high level event to raise the visibility of the EYD2015 and attract the highest attention to the EU and Member State stakeholders’ development cooperation results.

The first high level panel will focus on the opportunities from the EYD2015 in fostering dialogue on the results, benefits and challenges of sustainable development cooperation, and raising awareness of its mutual benefits highlighting why everyone in the EU should be informed about and get involved in development cooperation.

The second panel will rally support for good governance and effective, inclusive and accountable institutions as a linchpin for achieving a sustainable and inclusive post-2015 development agenda.

Together with high level panel discussions, NGO initiatives, competitions and actions will be launched during the event to activate public involvement.

Target audience: High level stakeholder group representatives from the EU Member State governments and public sector, European Institutions, International organisations, partner countries, civil society and the private sector.
